Cara Jaye & Miguel Angel Rivera, "Crossover Coyote #1" detail, coyote fur on etching |
Crossover/Cruce de Vias, features collaborative work created between the US and Mexico, with Cara Jaye working in Washington State and Miguel Angel Rivera in the historic city of Guanajuato, Mexico. Both artists traveled between their home countries to create these layered works on paper, which use various printmaking techniques, vandyke brownprint, digital imagery, collage, drawing and painting. The work shown in Crossover/Cruce de Vias features photographic images that have been manipulated, layered and placed in combination with rendered drawings and prints in an environment that conveys a sacred space. There will be two exhibitions shown simultaneously during the month of September, one at Shift Collaborative Studio in Seattle, and the other at the Galería Jesús Gallardo located at the University of Guanajuato in Mexico. Jaye holds an MFA from the University of Colorado and a BFA from Parsons School of Design in NYC. She is an Associate Professor of Art at Western Washington University and is a founding member of Shift. She studied lithography at the École des Beaux Arts in Paris France, and was a visiting artist lecturer at the University of Guanajuato in Guanajuato, Mexico in 2004.
