Point of Entry

NEW WORK BY CRYSTAL ANDERSON

Point of Entry features Crystal Anderson's current body of work, which tackles the realms of the subconscious in order to explore how art can provide insights into the mysteries of reality. Anderson seeks to coalesce the inner and outer realities via the figurative. In her work, the human form acts as a portal into the dynamics of the psyche, giving pictorial form to psychic experience. Her images are directly influenced by her desire to unlock the public imagination and offset the analytical mind in order to accentuate the strange, wonderful, peculiar, and unbelievable.

Crystal Anderson holds an MFA from the University of Washington. She lives in Seattle and currently works at the University of Washington.

Shift is a collaborative artist's studio that opened in the fall of 2004 in the newly renovated Tashiro-Kaplan Arts Complex. Shift was established as an artist run space with the primary goal of supporting emergent, practicing Northwest area artists. Additional Shift members include Garth Amundson, Crystal Anderson, Stephen Chalmers, Michelle Forsyth, Pierre Gour, Kevin Haas, Cara Jaye, Andrew Kaufman & Donna Stack, and Elise Richman.

The opening reception on Thursday, August 3rd will provide an opportunity for the artist to meet the public and discuss her work. In addition to its regular hours, Shift welcomes visitors by appointment.
