Shift Hours: Friday & Saturday 12-5pm

June Sekiguchi presents new work composed of welded steel sculptures and a light box installation at Shift Collaborative Studio opening March 6, 2008. Sekiguchiʼs work has been supported by a 2007 Artist Trust GAP grant and a 4Culture Special Projects grant to develop and translate her work from wood to metal. As a continuation of Sekiguchi's ideas about cultural and personal identity, pattern is brought to its most elemental, workable form while still conveying her interest in layering patterns.
The works in the exhibition are all made up of sectional pieces that combine to form larger pieces which can be reconfigured in a variety of ways, significantly altering the design. Sekiguchi will be reconfiguring the work during the opening reception as well as each week of the exhibition.
The artist will be in attendance each Saturday during the show. Shift Studio is located at 306 S. Washington St, #105 in the Tashiro Kaplan Building in Pioneer Square. Regular gallery hours are Friday and Saturday 12pm-5pm.
Shift is a collaborative artistʼs studio that opened in the fall of 2004 in the renovated Tashiro Kaplan Arts Complex. Shift was established as an artist-run space with the primary goal of supporting emergent, practicing, Northwest artists.
