Lotus Podus 2, 2010 encaustic detail

Shift Collaborative Studio is pleased to present a showing of Jo Moniz’ encaustic and mixed media works.

Fascinated with island life, Jo’s recent encaustic paintings have focused on exploration of rich oceanic and island

life forms. The works are created by layering sumptuous coats of rich beeswax encaustic.  Ethnic patterning

produced by island peoples is an inspiration for the abstracted shapes which also appear in her work.

Jo Moniz is a visual artist living in Seattle, Washington.  She also holds Washington and Hawaii architectural licenses.
