Recent Works by Kamla Kakaria and Rickie Wolfe May 1st through May 31st Multiples Encaustic and Mixed Media Opening First Thursday May 3rd, 2010 5-8pm Shift hours: Friday & Saturday 12-5pm Or by Appointment: info@shiftstudio.org Shift Collaborative Studio is pleased to present new artwork by Kamla Kakaria and Rickie Wolfe. The artists bend, weld, paint, and dip several materials to create sinuous line in space. The art is delicate, mysterious, and at times downright quirky. Kakaria’s delicate layering lures you in to her imperfect patterns. Wolfe creates form and gesture with her whimsical use of materials. Kamla Kakaria received an MFA in Printmaking from the University of Washington. She is the Studio Manager of the Print and 2D Department at Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle and teaches Printmaking at Kirkland Art Center, Northwest Encaustic Studio and at Pratt Fine Arts. Rickie Wolfe received a BFA from Cornish College of the Arts and teaches Print and Collage at Pratt Fine Arts Center. In addition to Shift, both artists show their work at SAM Gallery in Seattle. Shift is a collaborative artist’s studio that opened in the fall of 2004 in the renovated Tashiro Kaplan Arts Complex. Shift was established as an artist-run space with the primary goal of supporting emergent, practicing, Northwest artists.
