In “Surfacing”, Kevin Piepel’s new body of encaustic Paintings, he utilizes the medium to its fullest creating emotionally charged abstracts lush in both color and texture. Kevin draws from personal experiences with difficult life changes to visually represent his transitions from despair to joy.

Kevin Piepel grew up in the Wenatchee Valley where from an early age he made art the focus of his life. Kevin moved to Seattle in the fall of 1986 to study art at the University of Washington where he earned a BA in Studio Art and a BFA in Printmaking. Kevin continues to make Seattle his home. Kevin’s artistic focus has transitioned from a representational narrative in Printmaking to an abstract figurative narrative in Encaustic Painting. Kevin has been publicly showing his encaustic work in the Seattle area for over three years and his work has found a home in many private collections including the Swedish Medical Group Collection.
